Lizzie Armory Denver “FINAL CHAPTER,” TEAGUE BOHLEN, SEPTEMBER 29 CL OS ING THE BOOK I wonder if the community would step up to help BookBar the way it did Mutiny In- formation Cafe. We can’t afford to lose our independent bookstores. Joel Foster Denver This is so sad. In my opinion, the gen- trifi cation of Tennyson Street has ruined it. Loved it when Planned Pethood, the hardware store, Flesher-Hinton, Red Door Antiques, Ross Basses, DJ’s, Kyle’s, the Choc- olatier, the Green Door and other affordable and community-minded small businesses ruled the day. Progress. Carolyn Toth Bartels Wheat Ridge The real story here is that it survived for a decade. Matt Mooney Truckee, California “INN TROUBLE,” CONOR MCCORMICK- CAVANAGH, SEPTEMBER 15 ONE -WA Y S TREET The street people think they are entitled to live on the streets wherever they want. Steve Garden Arvada Handling homeless and making Denver better: 1. Find out where they have come from, what state was home. 2. Offer a bus ticket home (non-refund- able). 3. Women and children should be a priority. 4. Drug screening of some kind; money for drugs can be saved for food. 5. Mental health help, mandatory because it can’t hurt. 6. All major money-makers — banks, churches, sports venues, Starbucks, Walmart, Coors, oil companies, airlines and ski areas etc. — need to provide some type of housing vouchers. 7. Offer a new state to move to so that they won’t freeze to death on the streets of Denver. Texas, Florida, Louisiana: some- where warm. 8. Give them a job. Don’t just give out money; give out brooms, shovels, tools to work with. 9. Build low-income high-rises. Sorry, but all of the four-story buildings have been used up in Denver. Time to build up. 10. RTD should be scrapped and turned to tiny homes. Stick to light rail and biking or a new idea. 11. Past city government has let investor greed ruin Denver. 12. No more Hickenlooper era, no more Hancock error. Time to start from scratch or think outside the pocket$. I was born and raised here, and I don’t like going anywhere in the metro any more. Sad, but at least I remember how we were a pretty city, even if it came with the term “cowtown.” Chris Duran Adams County “CHICK MAGNET,” MOLLY MARTIN, SEPTEMBER 29 CLUCK YO U First it was Korean fried chicken in the Sep- tember 22 issue, now chicken wings. What’s next? Chicken feet? Find some other food to write about. Alan Freedman Denver Westword always claims they know the best. I think it’s whoever you pay the best or who you buddy up with. Your best lists are always political. How about fi nding the best without politics or clout? Donovan Aragon Thornton 9 ON A SCROLL From hot pots to hot properties, Denver’s ten best TikTok accounts.
