35 SEPTEMBER 28-OCTOBER 4, 2023 westword.com WESTWORD | CLASSIFIED | MUSIC | ADULT | EMPLOYMENT | SERVICES | HEALTH WELLNESS | RENTALS | REAL ESTATE | Enter the building and you’re engulfed in a medieval space, a castle-like environment with swords and shields on the wall. No, it’s not a part of some Renaissance festival. It’s Kind Castle, a medieval-themed organic cannabis store with loca- tions throughout the state and a superstore in Commerce City. The company was founded by president and owner John Dyet seven years ago, and has dispensaries in Ridgway, Craig, Nederland, Parachute, and the company’s fi rst metro Denver location in Commerce City, which is celebrating with grand opening specials. The new loca- tion is medieval on the inside, but some of its earlier stores carry the castle motif to outside stone parapets and walls. In fact, Leaf- buyer gave Kind Castle the “Best Dispensary Design” award. Kind Castle is different from other recreational dispensaries in other ways than just design. At the Castle, the customer is king (or queen) at their stores. Kind Castle was awarded “Best Cus- tomer Service at a Dispensary” in Westword’s Best of Denver 2023, for good reason. The customer’s experience is paramount, from the friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff to the roomy surroundings in- cluding even the furnishings—the bar seating along the counters where customers can sit comfort- ably while being served—and of course the products. Kind Castle sells organic cannabis from small-batch, local Colorado growers, and some of their prod- ucts are sold in biodegradable packaging made of hemp that tells customers in no uncertain terms, “we care!” “We screen all the growers and we don’t even sell their products if we don’t like what we see and how they grow products,” Dyet says with pride. “You’re fi nding all the best growers in Colorado under one roof. We’re pulling products from Durango to Rifl e and all over the state, a lot of small batch growers, that we’re the only ones that they sell to.” And, he adds, “with us, it’s al- ways fresh quality.” The chain is run like a modern natural foods operation: the emphasis is on natural, fresh and locally- produced. That attention to detail and quality also won Kind Castle Westword’s “Best In-House Flower at a Dispen- sary” award for 2023. Another way that Kind Castle differs from other dispensaries is its spaciousness, especially at the company’s Commerce City superstore. The next su- perstore planned for the chain will be in Glenwood Springs, coming later this year, and a second Commerce City super- store in 2024. They’ll be large, comfortable and welcoming spaces with the variety and qual- ity that customers have come to expect from Kind Castle. “I haven’t seen too many dis- pensaries calling themselves superstores,” Dyet notes. “It’s not a rushed buying experience at all so the buying experience is something that we’re really focused on. We like the customer to actually enjoy the process.” “We want to be one of the key stores that people can rely on, you know, by building a long- term brand.” It appears he’s al- ready accomplished that, with the loyal following he’s built so far. The feedback from connois- seurs, customers and the industry awards confi rm that with Kind Castle, Dyet has built the most amazing cannabis dispensaries throughout Colorado.
