I’m ready to try something new! Larry O. Dear Larry: Colorado dispensaries update their offerings frequently, and growers love pumping out new and modern strains. Day- time highs are what we chase during the summer, though, so let’s focus on those. Rot- ten Rozay is a relatively new strain to Denver that I’ve enjoyed during the daytime, both because of the uplifting high and the overripe fruit fl avor. Dante’s Inferno is another very hot strain right now, thanks to candy terps and impressive potency — but go easy on that one, or you’ll be high-strung and headless. Point Break and Tally Mon are two popu- lar modern strains, particularly among hash heads. Both have fl avor profi les that remind me of fruit salad, and the effects are great for a post-work session with longer daylight hours in mind. Super Boof’s run in Colorado is pretty young, too, and worth experiencing on top of a mountain if you like funky strains. If I may jump outside of your parameters, though, I’d suggest a return to Sour Diesel. Talented growers at Meraki and Single Source are bringing the timeless strain back to the forefront, and its energetic high and classic fl avors are perfect for summer hijinks. Dear Stoner: I’ve been killing it as a bud- tender, but only approached it as a job to pay bills during school. Now our VP wants me to become a manager, which looks like a stress- ful job. Is that a position with a future? I don’t have many friends in the industry to ask. Mandy Dear Mandy: A Reddit thread on a local can- nabis page dove into this topic a few weeks ago, and most of the respondents said they made around $40,000 to $50,000 for similar jobs, which sounded like very demanding work. Most market reports have the same numbers — but the most important part here is your future. The cannabis industry is fi lled with awe- some people and greedy shysters, so it’s im- portant to have a good feel for the company and its ownership before committing for the long term, especially if the move means sacrifi cing schoolwork. No disrespect to dispensary managers, but aim higher while you still can. Legal cannabis is suffering a re- cession right now, and you can always return to the industry if retail is that easy for you.
