A S K A S T O N E R BY HERBERT FUEGO Dear Stoner: I’ve been gifted some high- quality rosin, but it’s extremely sticky and I always lose some or make a mess when I try to put it in my bowl or hash pen. Any advice? It’s making me scared to use it. Sticky Icky Dear Sticky Icky: Hey, it’s called “rosin” for a reason. That shit is expensive and sticky, indeed, and should not be handled by unseri- ous hands. Just like the early forms of wax and several forms of live resin, hash rosin can be a complicated pain in the ass for the unitiated. Cold-cure batter is a little easier to work with, thankfully, but even that is goopy at room temperature. For starters, keep your rosin in the fridge for a more solid (and less sticky) consistency; you can even put it in the freezer for a little, but let it warm before you smoke it for the best fl avor. If you’re not dabbing it straight from the jar to your rig, then consider a tool that heats up after scooping the hash, like a Puffco Hit Knife, which melts rosin over bowls and vapes so your fi ngers don’t get messy. Dear Stoner: I take edibles for chronic pain daily, and am getting sick of eating gummies in the morning. Do you know of any infused breakfast dishes or edibles that suit the morning better? Greasy Spooner Dear Greasy Spooner: It’s hard to fi nd any edibles at the dispensary that aren’t gummies or some other form of colorful candy nowa- days, but THC for breakfast is surprisingly easy to make. Cannabis-infused butter or cooking oil can be made at home in less than a half-day with little effort; a small number of dispensaries sell butter or olive oil infused with 100 milligrams of THC. Either way, once you get your hands on it, scrambled eggs, pancakes, waffl es and many, many other dishes are within reach. And if that’s too much effort, then just infuse peanut butter with hash and eat it by the scoop or stir it in your morning oatmeal. As far as ready-made stuff goes at the pot shop, your best bets in the morning are probably THC beverages, which range from seltzers and sodas to cold brew coffee. You can fi nd baked goods that go well with cof- fee, too, and there are lower-dose edibles that come in the form of mints, oral tablets and capsules.
