I hear Michael is leaving; I will miss his work. Helen Myers Denver Michael, your work was unique and superb. I’m sorry to hear you are leaving Westword. Good luck in your next endeavor. Hopefully we will see your byline in West- word again. But I understand a bit about your burnout from the 24/7 world of journalism these days. The grind, year after year, sounds like it can become unbearable. Carol Carpenter Denver Thank you, Michael, for all of your hard work and straightforward reporting over the years, especially on local media when other media coverage gradually disappeared and you were the only person left who gave a damn. Best of luck to you in your next chapter; I hope you embrace the new job title of “recovering journalist.” Greg Barman Denver Editor’s note: After more than three decades as a full-time editorial staffer at Westword, Michael Roberts has pushed away from the keyboard. Read his farewell at westword. com/news/michael-roberts-leaving-west- word-16014218. “SPIN CONTROL,” HELEN XU, JANUARY 26 W H E E L E R D E A L E R S The “Mountain Biking Capital of the World” moves from Colorado Springs to Bentonville? What kind of crazy Walmart deal is this? Henry Travers Denver Bentonville elevation: 1,296 feet. William O’Reilly Denver There are no mountains in Arkansas. Period. Josh Egle Denver Who goes to Bentonville, Arkansas, unless Walmart has their slimy fi ngers in it? Sam Hedrick Denver “LET THE CHIPS FALL,” MOLLY MARTIN, JANUARY 26 S O M E T H I N G ’ S F I S H Y It was awesome to follow Paul Myhill along his quest through his Facebook page. Now I want the fi sh and chips from my child- hood. Yum! Rosanna McLaughlin Parker Next thing you know, someone’s going to say, “There’s a big difference between American football and British football.” Brett Baird Denver “SQUEEZED OUT,” TEAGUE BOHLEN, JANUARY 19 A N O T H E R S C R A P E I read with sadness the article about one of the last rowhouses in RiNo. I lived for twenty years in one of a group of duplexes at 1575 to 1581 South Pennsylvania. They were owned by a woman who was less interested in profi t than providing a wonderful place to live at an affordable price. Most of the tenants were there 25 years or more. Unfortunately, she had to sell in 2014, and they were purchased by a development company that “knew the price of every- thing and the value of nothing.” Our homes were scraped and million-dollar homes were erected. We had to scatter, and our sense of community was lost. Now I live in a neighborhood that was built for cars, not for people, and at almost triple the rent. I hope the people in RiNo hold out as long as possible.
