While 420 celebrates flower, 710 takes it to the next level, focusing on oil concentrates, dabbers and vaping off rigs. In fact, 710 is OIL upside down. A concentrate is a sticky oil made from the cannabis flower. By concentrating the cannabis flower, brands are able to create a product filled with THC, terpenes, and cannabinoids, meaning concentrates are more potent than smoking a joint. Cannabis concentrates can come in a variety of products, including hash oil, wax, shatter, butter, and more. There is no clear-cut answer as to when 710 began or who started it, but the most widely accepted story is that the July 10th holiday began in 2011 after rapper and cannabis advocate TaskRok and a few of his friends began the 710 movement because they felt 420 was too old school. In addition to his music career, TaskRok founded Highly Educated TI, a company making dab accessories. On July 10, 2011 the rapper released his album entitled, “The Movement” with songs “7:10” and “Boil that Oil” on the hopes it would spur a 710 movement. As more states have legalized cannabis, and more safety regulations were put in place, concentrate popularity has grown and continues its uphill trajectory.
