Their horde of gourds is more silly than spooky, though. “Our family-friendly Halloween display is all about lights, not frights,” Carl Jimenez says. For years, the Valley’s most creatively unhinged walkthrough display, created by artist Michaela Nastasia, her sister Laura and niece Athena, has plunged visitors into a deranged redneck hellrealm populated by cannibalistic inbreds and supernatural fiends. It’s hanging up its bloody machete at the end of October. Check it out before it’s laid to rest. Rivaling most pro haunts, it spans the exterior of their four-bedroom home and mixes Edward Gorey macabre with Disney whimsy. You’ll find the namesake graveyard in the front, a claus- trophobic maze in the garage and a perilous haunted mine in the side yard. No wonder there’s always a line.
