BY NICOLE LOPEZ-ALVAR I f you had told me five years ago that Mi- ami would become a haven for matcha lovers, I probably would’ve offered you a cortadito and told you to get real. But here we are in 2025, and the matcha scene in the Magic City is not only thriving, it’s downright ceremonial. (Get it?) From Co- conut Grove to the Miami Design District, there’s a serious green wave sweeping through our cafés, and it’s no longer just about trendy vibes or Instagrammable espresso- based lattes (although I absolutely adore Mi- ami’s coffee scene). We’re talking about baristas who treat matcha with the same rev- erence as a bartender stirring a Negroni. In this guide, I’m ranking the eleven best matcha lattes in Miami, a list that spans sleek neighborhood staples, buzzy viral newcomers, and yes, even a couple of chains that earned their spot fair and square. At the top? A coffee shop in Coconut Grove, where the matcha pours are impossibly smooth and delicately balanced, proving once again that the Grove is the “it” neighborhood of 2025. And you’ll definitely recognize an adorable food truck, the utterly charming little shop founded by two sisters that went viral this year. (We loved telling their story earlier in the year.) These are the matcha lattes that hit just right: not too grassy, not too earthy, never chalky, and always crafted with care (no big- batch brews here). Many use ceremonial- grade matcha, and some come with a twist, with ingredients like yuzu, rose, and even house-made strawberry milk. While I hesi- tated to include big chain names because of their ever-expanding footprint, I had to give credit where it’s due — people love them, and honestly, I get it. So, without further ado, here are the eleven best matcha lattes in Miami, sip-tested, ranked, and New Times-approved. 11. Studio 24 2700A Biscayne Blvd., Miami 645-240-8228 studiotwentyfour.co The newest coffee shop on the list (and soon it may move up a few spots) is Studio 24 in Edgewater. Founded by seasoned coffee shop owners from overseas, they’ve arrived in Mi- ami with one of the coolest coffee shop con- cepts in a while. But besides the hip vibes, DJ booth, and soon-to-be podcast space in the corner, the matchas here are absolutely deli- cious, especially the “Geisha” made with strawberry milk, mango foam, and straw- berry dust. 10. Bigface 40 NE 40th St., Miami bigfacebrand.com Founded by former Heat star Jimmy Butler, Miami loves the matcha at Bigface in the Mi- ami Design District because it’s made with high-grade ceremonial powder that gives each sip a vibrant, rich flavor and a beautiful, Insta- gram-worthy appearance. The creamy drink, which can be blended with oat or almond milk and topped with cold foam, is a hit among mat- cha drinkers. Plus, Bigface’s stylish café’s vibe fits seamlessly with the Design District’s artis- tic energy, so if you’re on TikTok, chances are you’ll see this spot pop up on your feed. 9.
