Gone are the days of texting your dealer and trying to arrange a shady meetup, cash in hand, or sit- ting around dispensary waiting rooms and awkwardly chatting up budtenders. If you’re one of the more than 900,000 Floridians with a medical marijuana card, you can have someone bring cannabis prod- ucts straight to your doorstep for a small fee and, in some instances, for free. Competi- tion is fierce in the Sunshine State’s mari- juana market, and retailers are willing to travel far and wide to earn your devotion as a customer. Here, in alphabetical order, are four of the best dispensaries that deliver weed in Miami. Curaleaf Curaleaf, the state’s second-largest cannabis producer by volume of THC sold, offers de- livery in South Florida from its West Palm Beach, South Beach, Deerfield, and Kendall stores. BY NAOMI FEINSTEIN W hile billionaires are migrating to South Florida in droves to flee tax legislation on the West Coast targeting the ultra-rich, it ap- pears others are doing quite the opposite. In 2025, Miami-Dade experienced the third-largest population decline among U.S. counties, trailing only Pinellas and Los Angeles counties, according to new U.S. Census Bureau data. Between July 2024 and July 2025, the population fell by 10,115 people, from 2,812,144 to 2,802,029. Miami-Dade is still the seventh-largest county in the U.S. and the largest in Florida. The census data reveals that Miami- Dade County’s population is shrinking largely due to a decline in international mi- gration — at a time when President Don- ald Trump is aggressively cracking down on illegal immi- gration and legal immigration pathways. Over- all, the Census Bureau found that population growth slowed in most of the nation’s 3,143 counties and in Washington, D.C., from July 2024 to July 2025. “The nation’s largest counties like those in the New York metro area are often inter- national migration hubs, gaining a large number of international migrants and los- ing people that move to other parts of the country via domestic migration,” George Hayward, a Census demographer, said in a press release. “With fewer gains from inter- national migration, these types of coun- tries saw their population growth diminish or even turn into loss.” More than 72,000 people moved out of Miami-Dade, according to the data. Per- haps residents have had enough of the traffic, affordability issues, and the lack of public transit. Former Miami Mayor Francis Suarez’s famous “How can I help?” tweet from 2020 only helped seemingly recruit the crypto bros, the rich, and the tech world to Miami- Dade, rather than the average person. As people flee Miami-Dade County, several billionaires have either snatched up prop- erty or relocated their businesses here. The newcomers include Palantir CEO Alex Karp, former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, and Google cofounders Sergey Brin and Larry Page. BY BRITTANY SHAMMAS A merican Airlines said Thursday, April 9, that it plans to resume daily, nonstop flights between Miami and Caracas as soon as April 30, more than six years after the suspension of airline services linking the Vene- zuelan capital and the home of the largest popu- lation of Venezuelan immigrants in the U.S. American is the first commercial airline to an- nounce plans to reconnect the two countries. The news comes a little over a month after the U.S. Department of Transportation approved the company’s request to operate flights to Caracas and Maracaibo. American said it is still working with regulators in both countries, and the April 30 date is subject to government approval. It will run the service through its subsidiary Envoy us- ing Embraer 175 aircraft. “American’s Miami hub is the preeminent U.S. gateway to Latin America, and our service to Venezuela is a key part of our history and our fu- ture,” the airline’s chief commercial officer, Nat Pieper, said in the statement. “Our commitment to connecting Venezuela with the U.S. spans more than 30 years, and we look forward to the new opportunities for commerce and strength- ened ties with family and friends that our service will provide.” The U.S. Department of Homeland Security suspended all commercial flights to Venezuela in May 2019, citing “the ongoing political instability and increased tensions in Venezuela and associ- ated inadvertent risk to flight operations.” By that point, individual airlines had already paused commercial passenger flights between the two countries. American, which began operating in Venezuela in 1987 and became the largest U.S. airline in the country, was the last to make the move, in March 2019. On February 13, in the wake of the Trump ad- ministration’s capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro, the airline applied to restart ser- vice to the country, USA Today reported. Ameri- can wrote in its filing that approval “will further President Trump’s goal of reopening air service to Venezuela and serve the public interest by providing an opportunity for business, leisure, and humanitarian travel to the region.” Nate Gatten, American’s executive vice presi- dent of American Eagle, corporate real estate and government affairs, said in its statement that the company is “encouraged” by the progress it has made with the American and Venezuelan governments. He added: “We are grateful for the efforts of U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and the entire administration to help us reconnect the U.S. with Venezuela. Our return wouldn’t be possible without this strong partnership.” The State Department last month eased its travel warning about Venezuela from “Level 4: Do Not Travel” to “Level 3: Reconsider Travel,” removing risk indicators including “wrongful de- tention” and “unrest.” The current advisory tells Americans to reconsider travel due to the risk of crime, kidnapping, terrorism, and poor health in- frastructure.
