Ask Brooklyn V’s Pizza owner, Vito LoPiccolo, what makes his pizzas and pastas stand out, and he’ll tell you he’s not going to say he’s better than anybody. But the fact is, he’s originally from Brooklyn, he’s been doing it since he was 13 years old, and now he does it in Arizona. “The best tomatoes, the best cheese—which is Grande mozzarella cheese—for me, I feel that’s why the pizza is very good,” he said. The most popular pizzas on Brooklyn V’s menu, according to LoPicolo, are the three-meat with pepperoni, sausage and meatballs, which is a big seller; the supreme; the regular cheese; and the Margherita. The pizzeria, which has five locations in Arizona—Gilbert, Queen Creek, two in Chandler and another in San Tan Valley—makes some extraordinary specialty pizzas, too, such as the Pesto chicken, penne vodka, clam, bruschetta, white eggplant and baked caprese. It also offers gluten-free toppings and cauliflower crust pizza as well as pizza by the slice. “We make all types of strombolis, too, which we sell a lot of; and people like the penne vodka sauce [pasta dish]. We also have the spicy rigatoni vodka—we put a little sausage inside, it’s really good. The chicken Marsala with a side of spaghetti is very good too,” said LoPiccolo. “The pastas we go through a lot: the ziti; and, of course, pasta and meatballs; and the spaghetti with the sausage and peppers and sauce is excellent,” he added. For dessert, Brooklyn V’s homemade cheesecakes are a big seller, and the restaurant recently was named the best cheesecake in Arizona this month by popular local food critic @Nopaidfoodreviewguy.
