Davis St., Dallas thehighlonesomelounge.com Men deserve the joy of having their hair done by an expert, too. If you’ve ever stopped a man on the street to ask where he got such a clean cut that grew out so flaw- lessly and made him look so suave, he proba- bly said the High Lonesome Lounge (and he probably said he sees Morgan Baker, too). The High Lonesome certainly doesn’t qual- ify as a hole-in-the-wall, nor is it a hidden gem, per se, but sometimes things are popu- lar because they deserve to be. This barber- shop is perhaps the best example of that. Go get your haircut, or let them lean you all the way back for an old-school razor cleanup on your beard. BEST TATTOO SHOP Salvation Tattoo 345 W. Jefferson Blvd., Dallas salvationtattoodallas.com Tattoo trends come and go. Right now, while the trend seems to be removing tat- toos, we say, get more. Make them big. Make them loud. And make sure they’re good. In order to do that, you’ll need a shop like Salvation, which doesn’t have one bad artist. If your preferences are for soft dainty lines, you should look somewhere else. If you’ve hopped on the American traditional bandwagon and are looking for a badass panther that will hold up until your final days (skincare contingent), this is the place for you. The shop takes walk-ins, though you should never rely on walk-in appoint- ments at any reputable shop, and you’re better off allowing the artists some time to do what they do best. BEST WELLNESS STUDIO Restore Wellness Studio 1215 W. Davis St., Dallas restorewellnessstudio.com Self-care comes in many forms, but one of our favorites is massage. Sometimes it can be a deep-tissue massage; other times it can be an intense stretch session or maybe the Eastern medicine practice of dry cupping. No matter how you recover from life’s ail- ments, Restore Wellness Studio has dedi- cated itself to supporting your relaxation. The studio offers full-body massages up to 120 minutes and has created an extra-spe- cial service for prenatal clients experiencing pregnancy-related muscle and joint pain. For a couple more dollars and a pretty please, they’ll even bring out hot stones and paraffin wax. BEST HAIR SALON WITH A SIDE OF COFFEE Common Good 1619 N Hall St., Dallas instagram.com/commongooddtx Tucked into Old East Dallas near Ross Ave- nue, in a space that once slung tea for Rak- kasan, sits Dallas’s weirdest and best idea for a hangout: coffee, haircuts and vinyl, all sharing one roof. Christopher Bermudez, who grew up in Mexico City, basically im- ported the city’s genre-bending cafe-night- club energy and planted it in Dallas. Order a pistachio matcha or a Mexican mocha, then watch someone get a fresh fade through the glass behind you — eight stylists, always buzzing. Every other Sunday, a DJ drops the needle in the listening room and the whole place turns into a party. Common Good re- ally earns its name.
